Kitoko Mai is an award winning multidisciplinary artist based in Tkaranto. They are an actor, writer, facilitator, video artist, producer, DEI consultant, mental health advocate, and content creator.
Kitoko is a reciepient of the Gilded Hammers Emerging Artist Award (2020) from HFTco and the Promising Pen Prize (2021) from Cahoots Theatre. Also in 2021, their cheeky and informative video called “The BIPOC Survival Guide”, was produced by the CBC.
In 2023, their first short film, Thriving: A Dissociated Reverie (produced by Virgin Twins and directed by Nicole Bazuin) was selected for screening at the Sundance Film Festival. The film also made TIFF’s Canada Top Ten (2023) and won 4 awards during its festival run.
