Because I’m Not a Boy or a Girl
‘because i’m not a girl or a boy’ is an autobiographical scenic poem created by Kitoko Mai, exploring the formation of identity. This piece explores how black, queer, feminine, and spiritual identities can connect, clash and/or combine to create a single persons identity.
This performance is a creative interpretation of the writings of Kimberle Crenshaw, Donna Harraway, and Jasper Paur.
The piece combines installation art, poetry, movement, sound art, and multimedia.
